Research Links SAS® Curriculum Pathways® and Student Achievement Research from North Carolina State University suggests that SAS Curriculum Pathways can enhance student achievement compared to traditional modes of instruction. Although the study was limited in scope, the results are extremely encouraging and have prompted more detailed research on the impact of SAS Curriculum Pathways in the classroom. The work was conducted by Richard Lamb as part of his M.S. thesis, "Review of the Efficacy of SAS Curriculum Pathways on Student Understanding in Chemistry." Lamb's findings indicate that the product "increases student understanding of chemistry concepts when compared to traditional instruction." Each of three product components showed statistically significant student gains. Indeed, students using SAS Curriculum Pathways outperformed the control group by as much as 18.5% on a test of pre- and post-test understanding of chemistry concepts. In pursuit of his Ph.D. in science education, Lamb is currently designing a more detailed research project on how SAS Curriculum Pathways affects student performance. |
