Preparing for Classroom Use
In SAS® Curriculum Pathways®
Prepare Printable Materials
- InterActivity: In SAS Curriculum Pathways, Teacher’s Edition, select the Lesson Guide. Click on the Assessment tab to review the Printable Materials section. (Key materials are also available from within the InterActivity.)
- Web Inquiry: Students complete a Respond sheet. To print this sheet, go to the Web Inquiry and select Printable Version, which is located in the gray header bar at the top of the page.
- Audio Inquiry: To demonstrate acquisition of essential background knowledge, students complete these tutorials and accompanying quizzes. If implemented as a whole-class (or small-group) exercise, you may choose to print the quiz. Go to the Audio Inquiry, select Lesson Guide, and click on the (blank) Quiz link.
- Lesson (Classroom Activity, Web Lesson, Project): Red links indicate handouts or worksheets. Click on a link, and the handout appears in a second browser window from which it can be printed.
Prepare Student Directions to a SAS Curriculum Pathways Resource
- Select the Share button. In the second browser window that appears, click the Assign tab. Assign provides the web address for SAS Curriculum Pathways, the student user name for your school's subscription, and the Quick Launch number that (when entered) brings up the resource.
- Select Customize to add your own directions (due dates, student groups, etc.).
- Print, save, or e-mail the Assign page.
Note: To safeguard teacher-only materials, do not allow students to access resources from within SAS Curriculum Pathways, Teacher's Edition. If you share a computer with students, be sure to log out.
At Student ComputersCheck Speakers and Headsets
Make sure headsets are available at each computer. Audio is an important element of English, social studies, Spanish, and some science InterActivities, and all Audio Inquiries. Internet sites in Web Inquiries and Lessons may feature audio files.
Check Printer Access
Arrange access to a printer and paper if you want students to print their work. In many of the InterActivities, students enter responses online. Before closing out their browser, students must either print their work or save it as an html file (which can be sent in an e-mail or saved to a network drive).
Access the resource on a few computers.
- For InterActivities and Audio Inquiries, ensure that interactive and video components are working properly. If they are not, check our Help topics or contact your technology person.
- You may want to cache the InterActivity on each computer. When accessed the first time, many of its interactive or video components are cached (i.e., stored locally in the computer's memory). Depending on the speed and reliability of your school's Internet connection, you (or student helpers) may want to access the interactive or video components before the first class. A cached InterActivity enables quicker student access.
- For a Web Inquiry or Lesson, check the availability of the web sites.
